The SOAP method of Bible Reading is a thorough way to read your Bible and develops a good habit of spending time with God. It establishes discipline and sets a pattern for regular Bible reading and study.
If you miss a day or two don’t beat yourself up! Just jump back in right where you are. As you spend more and more time in the Word you will get to know God and your confidence and trust in Him will grow.
Whether you have been a Christian for 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 or 60 years, the SOAP method of Bible Reading will develop a solid foundation to build your life upon.
As you read the prepared Bible passages each day allow them to wash and renew your way of thinking concerning your situations and circumstances, and use them to set the plumb line of truth in your life.
Here’s how it works: get your Bible, notebook and pen. Read the prepared Bible passages starting with the Old Testament chapter, New Testament chapter, Psalm and Proverb.
Pray before you start, something like this: Lord, open my eyes and ears as I read Your Word. Speak to me, give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Show me in Your Word what You want to say to me today. Thank You, I believe I receive. Amen.
As you read Holy Spirit will highlight certain verses to you. This is God speaking to you! Underline or mark these verses in your Bible and apply the SOAP... Say it! (Several times) Observe it, Apply it, Pray it.
Now you are on your way to a disciplined, rewarding relationship with your Heavenly Father God.
