Be Inspired
OCTOBER 2010 - Dare to Dream! Dare to Believe! Dare to do it… Again! “Awake, Awake! Clothe yourself with strength” (Isaiah 51:9) and Dare to Dream! Dare to Believe! Dare to do it again in 2010
In Daniel chapter 10 we read that Daniel had been fasting and seeking God and he had a supernatural visitation as he was standing on the bank of the great Tigris river. It was interesting that although others were there with Daniel they did not see anything but they did ‘feel’ something in the atmosphere and were quite freaked out. Daniel, however, saw in the spirit and was able to converse with the heavenly visitor even though he was shaken by the visitation.
The angel spoke to Daniel and told him how very precious he was to God. We are precious to God when we stand for righteousness and don’t compromise. The angel also told Daniel not to be afraid and reminded him again how precious he was to God. When we realize how precious we are to God and how protected we are ‘in Him’ what is there to be afraid of?! Even though sometimes we need to be reminded. The angel then decreed peace over Daniel and said ‘Be encouraged! Be strong!’ When we have a heavenly encounter we will be strengthened and encouraged.
Jesus too was strengthened and encouraged in His encounter in the Garden of Gethsemane. As recounted in Luke 22 Jesus was praying and agonizing under the pressure of all the forces of hell that were coming against Him yet He was firm in His resolve to carry out His Father’s will. Then in verse 43 we are told that just like in Daniel chapter 10 an angel visited Jesus and strengthened Him. Again we see how precious we are to God when we stand for righteousness and don’t compromise. It is God’s priority to encourage and strengthen us when we make this stand for Him.
While Jesus was spending this time with Father God the disciples were sleeping even though Jesus had asked them to watch and pray. It is unfortunate to think that they missed out on this encouragement and strength that was being made available and we can see the immediate consequence in Peter’s life when he denied Jesus. God has promised to always make a way of escape for us and unfortunately Peter missed his moment of strengthening right when he needed it most. Daniel’s friends missed it by running in fear. Jesus’ disciples missed it by sleeping right through it.
City Impact Church, this is our time, our call to destiny. So be encouraged! Be strong! “Awake, Awake! Clothe yourself with strength” (Isaiah 51:9) and Dare to Dream! Dare to Believe! And Dare to do it again in 2010.
